Sports Psychology techniques to Combat Stress  (1.5 hours)

Workshop Summary:

This workshop will focus on adapting sports psychology techniques to combat stress. As people working in high performing stressful environments, we will learn, practice, and leave with concrete plans to apply effective sports psychology tools to our daily lives.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify and practice three sports psychology skills that enhance self-awareness around stress management
  2. Describe SMART goals and optimal goal setting strategies, and leave with a written plan to combat stress
  3. List two sports psychology tools for rest and recovery that minimize stress

Presenter Biography:

Dr. Cory Nyamora is a licensed psychologist and endurance sports coach. He is the founder and director of Endurance – A Sports & Psychology Center, Inc. a company that provides psychological services, sports training and sports travel to people of all ages. Dr. Nyamora specializes in sports psychology and works with professional athletes, recreational adult athletes and competitive high school athletes. I am a licensed clinical psychologist and running and triathlon coach. I received my Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International University) in 2004. I held prior coaching certifications through USA Triathlon from 2008-2020 and USA Track and Field for several years.

I provide clinical psychotherapy services, trainings and workshops, consultation and supervision for psychology, social service and foster care agencies, as well as triathlon and running coaching.
