We asked and they answered

What were the highlights of the trip?

Being escorted by a local Kenyan, taking local transportation, staying at a local house and eating local food.  This type of authentic touring is very hard to find and a absolute joy and fulling experience to have.

So hard to choose. The Lewa Marathon was definitely one. Visiting your mom’s niece in Kakamega was another.

The food was a big part of what I was therefore and it was a major highlight of the experience.

The opportunity to travel to the continent of Africa in general, and specifically to Kenya with people from Kenya.

It was good to have fresh, homemade food!

Spending evenings watching the World Cup bonding with new friends and family members, seeing different parts of Kenya.

The animals: Nairobi National Park and Hell’s Gate.  Our bike trip through Hell’s Gate was very enjoyable, and fits with the athletic profile of the trip.

Having new experiences daily. Staying in a home and visiting the Rift Valley.

The outings, like the Safari, rainforest, bead factory, giraffe center, and being at Lewa and Mombasa.

One highlight was seeing the Lioness and her cubs during the Safari.

The completion of the half marathon-goal achieved.

Meeting people and kids in Iten.

I liked the food that mama cooked!

Any feedback about accommodations:

I liked all of the accommodations, from the house in Nairobi to the campsite in Lewa to the lodge we landed at spontaneously in Nyahururu.

The main accommodation in Nairobi was very good.  I enjoyed the privacy combined with a communal feel.

Even though we went to Mombasa, we really went to Mombasa and to a resort.  It is like we had two trips in one there.  The resort was very relaxing and very elegant….not to mention the food and all the weight I gained.

Excellent Accommodations, plenty of hot water, in the shower.

I liked that I was able to stay at someone’s home, rather than a hotel while in Nairobi. I enjoyed being able to eat and socialize with Kenyans.g

Thank you so much for inviting me to stay with the family. They were a lot of fun.

The accommodations both in Nairobi and Mombasa were very nice.  Auntie Margaret and family were extremely generous and welcoming. It was also a great location for being able to get away sometimes or just walk around the grounds.

Any feedback about the mix of transportation?

I enjoyed the long drives. They offered a great chance to take in varied geography and people watch. I never got bored.

Traveling with the van to the race was great.  All the drivers were outstanding and very safety oriented.

I liked being able to use the different transportations and because Cory and Wade were with us I felt perfectly safe and confident we would reach our locations. Taking the cabs for certain trips was nice, but I’m also glad we used the Matatu’s and city bus to be able to see what Kenyan’s experience on a daily basis.

Taking matatus was a great way to see real life.

It was a good experience to use public transportation and of course the drivers were great!

Any feedback about the activities?

Just about perfect. I liked having the flexibility to do my own thing whenever I wanted to.

We really enjoyed Iten. The set up allows one to run a lot, or just hang out by the pool.

I never felt over booked and at the same time didn’t feel there was too much free time.

You kept us really busy which I liked. In Iten the balance was great!

Thank you for a wonderful trip. I like traveling this way, someone else plans everything with free time built in and having the trip include locals, not just Americans is my ideal.

Any feedback about Endurance Staff, Hosts?

I loved Cory, Pius, and Loyce. Interacting with them was another major highlight.

Thank you Cory, Mama, and Papa for this once in a lifetime experience!  We had so much fun and enjoyed the trip tremendously.

Excellent Excellent Excellent.  Friendly, nice, informative, patient patient patient, and just wonderful people.

Don't forget that having Mama there made the trip.  No trip would be complete without her.

You are all great. It was wonderful to spend time with such nice and respectful people. Since I like to have quiet time it was great that no one questioned it or felt that I was being anti-social!

Congratulations on the success of this trip!

What did you learn about yourself on this trip?

I learned that going on this trip was an outstanding way to experience Kenya as close to a local as possible.

I reconnected with my authentic self.

I don’t mind traveling to far-away destinations.
