Resources for Transgender clients

Happy Summer! I hope you are settling into the summer and that this Season will be one of peace, health, adventure, relaxation or whatever you wish for. I was thrilled to be a panelist in May at Beta Gamma Chi’s event on Health and Healing in our Trans Communities and had a great time discussing LGBTQ health with a wonderful group of people.

I also wanted to share just a handful of resources specifically for our Trans clients and communities and a few more broadly for the LGBTQ and ally communities.

Family and Youth Resources

Our family Coalition: An organization that advances equity for LGBTQ+ families and children and they have tons of events, resources available.

Trans Family Alliance: A parent education and support community for those raising Transgender, non-binary and gender expansive kids.

Gender Spectrum: An organization that provides gender supportive services for Trans and Gender Expansive kids and their families.

Sports resources

Trans Athlete: A resource on Trans inclusion in athletics at various levels of play. It provides information on policies and ways to take action for more inclusive sports. It’s run by Chris Mosier – a Trans professional triathlete. The website has resources including K-12 policies, college policies, olympic policies, club sports and other helpful links.

Therapists

LGBTQ psychotherapists of color: You can search for LGBTQ therapists in California.

Podcasts

Stealth - A Transmasculine Podcast: Here’s a wonderful podcast that captures the stories of Transmasculine people who transitioned before the year 2000.

The Queer Family Podcast: A queer mom interviews several LGBTQ families.

Legal/Advocacy Resources

The Transgender Law Center

Human Rights Campaign

National Center for Lesbian Rights

Professional Resources

Gender Health Training Institute: An Organization run by a psychologist that supports professionals in becoming Gender Affirming providers.

World Professional Association for Transgender Health: This Organization publishes the Standards of Care for Transgender health and promotes evidence based care, education, research and public policy.

Lastly, here are the American Psychological Association’s Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming people

Enjoy the rest of the Summer!
