Coach Cory Nyamora congratulates his runners for their success at the 2012 Oakland Marathon

Dear Half-Marathon Runners!!

Congratulations! You are all so amazing! I’ve had 12 wonderful weeks coaching all of you and I’m basking in the excitement of it all.

Yesterday was an amazing day. I, and the rest of the Endurance crew, were privileged to be part of such a beautiful day. It was great to see you accomplish this momentous goal. You looked beautiful, strong and positive. You ran (or walked) strong and steady and finished with big smiles. You are such great runners! And you all looked like you could have gone many more miles at the end (for those who I saw at the end)! What a great accomplishment.  Words don’t do justice to what you did yesterday and these past 12 weeks!

So, here’s what you have to do this week– rest, stretch, eat, hydrate and bask in the glory of completing your training and this goal. Write about it – many times endurance runners (like you!) write a race journal – just a brief write up of your experience in the run. It’s good to do it now when it’s fresh in your mind. So take some notes, send the journal and photos to us and your friends and family. Remember, not everyone does this and not everyone trains and completes events like this. So congratulate yourselves, take time to rejuvenate, don’t think about the next event just yet -  enjoy and be in the moment. You can spend this week doing more yoga, stretching, swimming, cycling and walking. Take a break from running this week to let your legs recover.

We’ll celebrate soon! You are half-marathoners, endurance runners and a great group of people. Thanks for the privilege of coaching you.

Congratulations.

Cory
