Endurance – A Sports & Psychology Center, Inc. provides outdoor adventures and travel,sports training, and psychotherapy for children, adults and families. Our goal is to enhance your well-being and encourage life-long positive habits and skills.

We offer trainings provided by qualified staff on a regular basis. You may select one or more trainings to suit the needs of your organization or group.

TitleMoney and the mental health clinician (1 hour)

Description: This presentation will focus on how to work with money concerns that come up in therapy. Topics will include –  fee establishment, how to deal with transference and countertransference related to fees and money, and how to run a successful therapy practice. You will learn practical tips on setting up a practice that feels ethical, balanced and fair, as well as ways to prevent and cope with financial issues.

Who will benefit from this training?

  1. Therapists – Psychologists, MFTs, LCSWs and other therapists

  2. Mental health providers in private practice

  3. Organizations that have interns who collect fees

  4. Other similar helping professionals

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify barriers to having a financially successful private practice

  2. Understand and identify transference and countertransference around money

  3. Identify the factors that go into establishing fees

  4. Practice effective strategies to engage clients around fees and payments without anxiety, anger or guilt

  5. Set up a successful fee structure for your business and practice

TitleSports and mental health: How to support athletes with mental health issues (1 hour)

Description: This course will focus on the common mental health conditions that athletes may face and ways that sports organizations, coaches and schools can support the athletes. It will also explore the negative and positive impact that sports can have on athletes’ mental health and suggest concrete strategies to build a positive sports culture for athletes experiencing mental health issues.

  2. Collegiate and high school coaches and administrators

  3. Other professional coaches

  4. Mental health professionals

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify the common mental health issues athletes face

  2. Identify athletes who are facing mental health concerns or at risk for this

  3. Understand the role that sports can play in causing, as well as alleviating certain mental health conditions

  4. Identify practical tips to help athletes with mental health challenges and create an environment and team culture that is supportive of these athletes

TitleThe therapist’s role in reducing childhood obesity (2 hours)

Description: This presentation will focus on the role of the therapist in helping families who are impacted by childhood obesity and the associated medical conditions.  It will explore common barriers to exercise and nutritional changes, as well as effective strategies to improve young people's health.

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify common medical and psychological problems associated with childhood obesity

  2. Understand the challenges and role of the therapist in working with children and families dealing with obesity

  3. Understand the psychosocial, familial, individual and cultural issues that contribute to childhood obesity

  4. Identify effective strategies to help children and their families improve their health

Cory Nyamora, Psy.D., Founder/Director

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and running and triathlon coach. I received my Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International University) in 2004. I held prior coaching certifications through USA Triathlon from 2008-2020 and USA Track and Field for several years.

I provide clinical psychotherapy services, trainings and workshops, consultation and supervision for psychology, social service and foster care agencies, as well as triathlon and running coaching. I was born and raised in Kenya and immigrated to the U.S. in 1993. One of my passions is leading running trips to Kenya. I love the outdoors and especially enjoy spending time with my family as well as trail-running, swimming, cycling, racing and enjoying travel, music, art, food, culture and reading.
