PSYCH 1127 │ 0.7 ceu
7 hours of CE credit: BRN, LCSW/MFT and Psychologists
In this workshop, you learn effective strategies that therapists can use to work with families and children affected by childhood obesity. Grasp the common medical and psychosocial challenges related to childhood obesity and strategies to engage with these issues with clients, medical providers and in communities. It has been shown that exercise and healthy nutrition improve physical health; decrease depression, anxiety and substance abuse; and increase self-confidence, concentration and positive mental health. Learn how to best integrate these aspects into your clinical work. You review specific nutritional and exercise guidelines, and perform in-class experiential exercises to help you learn to discuss these sensitive topics in and outside of traditional therapy settings.
