Endurance – A Sports & Psychology Center, Inc. provides outdoor adventures and travel, sports training, and psychotherapy for children, adults and families. Our goal is to enhance your well-being and encourage life-long positive habits and skills.

We offer trainings provided by qualified staff on a regular basis. You may select one or more trainings to suit the needs of your organization or group.

Title: Improve your sports performance: a mental training and mindfulness workshop for young athletes (2 hours)

Description: This workshop will focus on ways to improve your sports performance by improving your mental game. It will address strategies to overcome barriers to optimal sports performance and present practical techniques to help you perform at your highest level, while balancing and enjoying your life. You will learn the tools that many professional and successful athletes use to perform their best while living a healthy and happy life.

Who will benefit from this training?

  1. High School Athletes

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, you will be able to:

  1. Understand the connection between what you think and how you perform

  2. Recognize obstacles and self-sabotaging behaviors and thoughts

  3. Identify a variety of mental skills and tools to help improve your sports performance

  4. Use practical tools and mindfulness skills to reduce anxiety, pressure and stress

  5. Improve communication with parents, coaches, and other athletes

Title: Supporting your child’s athletic career (2 hours)

Description: This workshop will focus on the common stressors that young athletes and parents of athletes face. There will be practical tips and guidelines on how to support your children and help them (and yourselves) manage the busy schedules that your family may face. It will also address some of the common mental health conditions that may occur for athletes, as well as ways to alleviate some of these challenges. We will also explore the negative and positive impact that sports can have on your child’s mental health and suggest concrete strategies to build a positive home environment and sports culture for young athletes.

  2. Parents of children who want to be professional athletes

  3. Parents of children who want to play college sports

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, you will be able to:

  1. Identify common stressors and risks that athletes face in attaining high goals

  2. Utilize practical tips to help your child reach their athletic goals with while maintaining positive mental and physical health

  3. Understand the tools that can reduce anxiety, stress and depression in athletes

  4. Create a healthy balanced family environment and culture

  5. Help your child live well, perform with excellence and enjoy what they are doing

Title: How to overcome a poor race performance (1 hour)

Description: This course will focus on strategies to get over poor performance on a race or competition. It will focus on common issues that come up after a poor race performance and strategies to improve on future race performances.

  3. Other competitive and recreational athletes

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify the common reactions to a poor race performance

  2. Differentiate between common reactions and those reactions that may need psychological intervention and support

  3. Identify and implement the use of practical and effective tips to overcome poor race performances and perform better in the future

Title: Kenyan Running Culture (1 hour 15 minutes)

Description: This training will focus on the five components that make Kenyans such great runners and ways that you can implement some of these components in your own training. We will also present details on an opportunity for runners to travel to Kenya to run an international marathon/half marathon and to train with and learn from Kenyan runners.

Title: Run Like a Kenyan…In Kenya (1 hour)

Description: Come and learn about a unique opportunity to travel with Endurance - A Sports & Psychology Center, Inc.’s Run Like a Kenyan…In Kenya program. This program takes travelers on a guided trip to Kenya to experience the rich culture and running traditions there. The package includes excellent accommodations, most meals, and unique guided sightseeing tours in Kenya. We visit urban hubs of contemporary culture and international business, world-class wildlife reserves and parks, five star coastal regions and quiet rural running towns. Participants have the option of running in a half-marathon or marathon and optional training components are available prior to traveling to Kenya. Serious runners will also have the opportunity to run with and train with the Kenyans in Kenya.

Title: Sports and mental health: How to support athletes with mental health issues (1 hour)

Description: This course will focus on the common mental health conditions that athletes may face and ways that sports organizations, coaches and schools can support the athletes. It will also explore the negative and positive impact that sports can have on athletes’ mental health and suggest concrete strategies to build a positive sports culture for athletes experiencing mental health issues.

  2. Collegiate and high school coaches and administrators

  3. Other professional coaches

Outcome Objectives: By the end of the training, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify the common mental health issues athletes face

Description: This presentation will focus on improving the physical and mental health of our youth, families and communities, providing tools for concrete and effective solutions to make positive changes in our communities.

Cory Nyamora, Psy.D., Founder/Director

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and running and triathlon coach. I received my Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International University) in 2004. I held prior coaching certifications through USA Triathlon from 2008-2020 and USA Track and Field for several years.

I provide clinical psychotherapy services, trainings and workshops, consultation and supervision for psychology, social service and foster care agencies, as well as triathlon and running coaching. I was born and raised in Kenya and immigrated to the U.S. in 1993. One of my passions is leading running trips to Kenya. I love the outdoors and especially enjoy spending time with my family as well as trail-running, swimming, cycling, racing and enjoying travel, music, art, food, culture and reading.
